Does anyone know the authenticity of the criss cross lacing on this dress? Would that be the type of lacing used? I have friends who do reenactment from the 1600 ands a lot of beginners lace their dresses like this, when paintings from the era show they should be laced in a different pattern. (Either horizontal, or in more of a spiral [starting from one side and going back and forth as you go up]) than a criss cross
How did colonial women actually lace their dresses?
